Coastal ocean modelling

Build a coastal simulation suited to your area, variables and validation criteria.

Your need

Define or recalibrate a CROCO domain
Prepare forcing, boundaries and initial conditions
Compare waves, currents, water level or temperature with observations

Required data

Bathymetry, coastline and target grid
Suitable WW3, CMEMS, GFS or reanalysis forcing
Buoys, ADCP, tide gauges or HF Radar for validation

Method

Grid and forcing preparation with checks
Simulation, conservation diagnostics and output analysis
Validation with bias, RMSE, time series and events

Deliverables

Versioned protocol and configuration
Documented NetCDF outputs and validation figures
Report on limits, sensitivity and next steps
Documented example

The Brest roadstead case uses a 250 m CROCO model as a reference simulation for current emulation; the project page treats the FNO separately.

Limits and conditions
Resolution cannot create an observation where forcing or bathymetry is uncertain.
Local validation does not guarantee transfer to another area.
Production depends on computing resources and data licences.
Process

A clear path from data to decision

01

Frame the need and decision criteria

02

Audit data and define the protocol

03

Run a reproducible analysis, model or training

04

Deliver, review and transfer

Quoted to scope: the effort depends on area, resolution, period and expected validation level.

Scope, available data and timeline are defined before any estimate.
