Design conditions, without waiting for a campaign
Based on the ERA5 reanalysis (1940 to today) and, where needed, on GLORYS12 currents. A solid design or feasibility basis, available immediately and at a reduced marginal cost.

Said honestly
A metocean study is not a regulatory measurement campaign. It is a solid design basis, where a campaign takes months and a budget of a different order.
How it works
Terms: 40 % on order, balance on delivery. Firm quote after scoping; the final price depends on the number of variables and the complexity of the site.
Who it is primarily for
Primary target: offshore wind. The budget is there, and the need is recurring and mandatory at every phase of the project.
| Target | Purchase trigger | Contact |
|---|---|---|
Offshore wind farm developersTarget no. 1 | Recurring need at each phase (feasibility, design, O&M) | Studies manager, owner’s engineer, metocean |
Offshore and installation contractors | Operational windows, cable laying and foundations | Operations manager, methods |
Naval architecture, shipyards (yacht, ferry) | Design conditions and operability | Engineering office, technical management |
Ports and coastal infrastructure managers | Access windows, operational safety | Harbour master, engineering |
Marine insurers and brokers | Extreme conditions for risk assessment | Underwriting, surveying |
What clients ask us
How much does a metocean study cost?
Three packages, from 2 500 € excl. VAT for a fixed point delivered in 5 working days, 4 900 € excl. VAT for a route profile in 10 days, and 9 500 € excl. VAT for an MRE site in 15 to 20 days. The quote is firm after scoping: the final price depends on the number of variables and the complexity of the site.
Can a reanalysis-based study replace a measurement campaign?
No, and we do not claim it can. A hindcast study is not a substitute for a regulatory measurement campaign. It is a design or feasibility basis available immediately, where a campaign takes months and a budget of a different order. Calibration against a local buoy or ADCP remains available as an option.
Which data do you use?
The ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis, covering 1940 to today at roughly 31 km resolution and hourly time step, for wind and waves. For currents, Copernicus Marine GLORYS12. In coastal zones with strong gradients the uncertainty of these products increases, and we flag it in the report.
How do you compute extreme values and return periods?
Through extreme value analysis: GEV, Gumbel and POT-GPD fits on the Hs and 10 m wind series, with 1, 10, 50 and 100-year return periods. On the MRE Site package we add joint Hs/Tp distributions and environmental contours using the IFORM method.
What is a persistence analysis?
It quantifies your operational windows: how long, and how often, conditions stay below a given threshold. For example, Hs below 1.5 m for 12 consecutive hours. Thresholds are configurable on the MRE Site package, to match your installation and maintenance constraints.
What do you deliver?
A PDF report, raw data in JSON and figures in PNG, plus a 30-minute debrief. One scoping iteration is included. Payment terms are 40% on order and the balance on delivery.
