Metocean study

A quantified sea-state conditions analysis, delivered in days, not months. To decide on a site, a route or an operational window without waiting for an in situ measurement campaign.

The principle

Design conditions, without waiting for a campaign

Based on the ERA5 reanalysis (1940 to today) and, where needed, on GLORYS12 currents. A solid design or feasibility basis, available immediately and at a reduced marginal cost.

Method and limits

Said honestly

A metocean study is not a regulatory measurement campaign. It is a solid design basis, where a campaign takes months and a budget of a different order.

Hindcast data

The analyses rely on the ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis (resolution of about 31 km, hourly step) and on GLORYS12 for currents. These are not in situ measurements: in coastal areas with strong gradients, uncertainty increases.

Local calibration as an option

Calibration against a local buoy or ADCP is available as an option, to reduce uncertainty in sensitive areas and confront the reanalysis with your measurements.

Process

How it works

01

Brief

You provide the point, the route or the site, and the operational thresholds that matter to you.

02

Production

Extraction and analysis on the OceanData infrastructure.

03

Delivery

Within the announced lead time, with a 30-minute debrief.

04

Iteration

One scoping iteration is included.

Terms: 40 % on order, balance on delivery. Firm quote after scoping; the final price depends on the number of variables and the complexity of the site.

Targets

Who it is primarily for

Primary target: offshore wind. The budget is there, and the need is recurring and mandatory at every phase of the project.
